AISI 52100 / 100Cr6 / SUJ2 / GCr15

Chrome Steel Bearing Balls

Precision through-hardened bearing balls for rolling bearings, automotive systems, linear motion and high-cycle industrial assemblies.

Chrome Steel Bearing Balls supplied by SDBALLS
PRODUCT REFERENCE / FINAL SPECIFICATION BY QUOTATION

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What are chrome steel bearing balls?

Chrome steel bearing balls are precision rolling elements manufactured from high-carbon chromium bearing steel. The material is through-hardened, ground, lapped and sorted to achieve controlled diameter, roundness, hardness and surface finish.

AISI 52100 is commonly cross-referenced with 100Cr6, SUJ2 and GCr15. Final acceptance should always follow the material standard, grade, size, hardness, surface and inspection requirements stated on the purchase order.

KEY PERFORMANCE FEATURES

Performance that purchasing teams can verify.

01

Rolling-contact performance

High hardness and controlled microstructure support wear resistance and fatigue life in lubricated motion systems.

02

Precision geometry

Grinding, lapping and sorting support controlled diameter variation, sphericity and surface finish.

03

Broad sourcing range

Metric and inch sizes, multiple precision grades and project-specific packing can be coordinated.

04

Stable volume supply

A practical material for OEM, bearing, automotive and distributor programs requiring repeatable lots.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Specify the work the ball must perform.

Application names are starting points—not approval of universal suitability. Share the real medium, load, speed, pressure, temperature, life target and compliance needs.

Bearings & linear motion

Deep-groove bearings, guide systems, ball screws and recirculating motion components.

Automotive systems

Steering, transmission, drivetrain, seat-track and other controlled-motion assemblies.

Pumps & valves

Mechanical functions where high hardness is required and the medium is compatible with bearing steel.

Precision machinery

Gauging, detents, transfer units, mechanisms and industrial hardware.

QUALITY & DOCUMENTATION

Build the evidence into the purchase order.

Document requirements should be defined before quotation so the inspection method, sampling level, traceability and external testing can be planned correctly.

  • Material verification against the agreed grade or material specification
  • Dimension inspection for diameter and agreed tolerance
  • Hardness testing when applicable to the selected material
  • Surface finish inspection against the agreed visual or roughness requirement
  • Roundness / sphericity inspection for the specified precision level
  • Batch traceability through lot identification and controlled records
  • Material certificates available when agreed before quotation
  • Inspection reports, compliance documents and third-party testing by agreement

PACKAGING OPTIONS

Protect precision through delivery.

Final packing depends on material, diameter, surface sensitivity, order weight, storage time and destination.

01

Dry protected packing

Clean inner bags, cartons or sealed containers for approved storage conditions.

02

Rust-preventive oil

Light or project-specified corrosion protection for export and inventory storage.

03

Bulk industrial packing

Cartons, pails, steel drums and palletized export packing by size and weight.

04

Counted or separated packing

Small lots, size-separated bags, trays or customer labels by agreement.

Supported formats: bulk packaging · small-quantity packaging · plastic containers · bags · cartons · export pallets · customized packaging.

PRODUCT FAQ

Answers for engineering and purchasing teams.

Are AISI 52100, 100Cr6, SUJ2 and GCr15 interchangeable?

They are commonly treated as equivalent bearing-steel families, but chemistry, heat treatment and acceptance criteria must follow the exact standard and purchase specification.

What precision grades are available?

Common supply ranges from G10 to G1000. Availability depends on diameter, lot quantity, surface condition and inspection requirements.

Can chrome steel balls be used in water?

Chrome bearing steel is not inherently corrosion resistant. Wet service requires corrosion protection, compatible lubrication or consideration of stainless, ceramic or plastic alternatives.

Do you support inch and metric diameters?

Yes. Provide the nominal diameter, tolerance or grade and annual quantity so manufacturability and inspection can be confirmed.

What information is needed for a bearing application?

Share load, speed, lubrication, temperature, life target, ball grade, surface requirement and applicable bearing standard.

Can I order samples or a small quantity?

Yes. SDBALLS supports sample evaluation and small-quantity orders, subject to available size, grade, packing and minimum production constraints.
